miles.gifAt a recent meeting of the General Council, Father Miles Heinen was appointed to replace Brother Peter Campbell as Director of the Vincentian Solidarity Office.

Miles, a member of the USA Southern Province, was born on 12 December 1950 and entered the Congregation of the Mission on 15 August 1969. He was ordained to the priesthood on 12 June 1982.
Father Heinen has had a variety of ministries in the past 25 years. He has served in parishes, as a local superior, as a member of the mission teams, as Provincial Councillor and for a long time as Provincial Treasurer. He worked in Guatemala for seven years. He is presently serving at Saint John’s Seminary in Camarillo, California and as Provincial Treasurer for the USA Southern and Western Provinces. We are grateful to Miles for accepting this appointment to a ministry which will benefit the entire Congregation.
We offer our sincere thanks to Brother Peter Campbell, who has led the Vincentian Solidarity Office since its inception in 2002 and its official opening on 1 January 2003. He has worked hard to make contacts with charitable agencies worldwide in order to fulfill the goal of the VSO:

To assist the poorer provinces, vice-provinces and missions of the Congregation of the Mission with writing successful grant proposals to funding organizations for their works and needs.

This appointment becomes effective on 1 January 2009. Brother Peter will stay on full-time as Director of the VSO until that time; afterwards, he will assist Miles for a period of transition.
