« I was happy to participate in the course of Missionary Spirituality of the Church for two months, organized by the International Center for Missionary Animation of Rome. Its motto was “The Lord sent me to evangelize the poor,” exactly the motto of our Congregation.

Thanks to this course I was made aware of, among other things, that the Catholic Church faces challenges of all kinds that many times require a prophetical attitude. The sharing among the participants, most of them diocesan priests, confirmed in me the need for prophetic witness in the Church, and reminded me of the words of Jesus Christ “…they will be my witnesses…” (Act 1:8) and the work that St. Vincent did in favor of the diocesan clergy.

When one realizes that inside our Church there are so many people, priests and lay people, fighting heroically for the Kingdom of God, that live and work motivated by a great ideal, one feels motivated to join them. That is a valid reason to live and to work walking towards the glorious resurrection; a valid reason to keep preaching, especially in Latin America, “with one’s own example,” as St. Vincent says.»
