Father Gabriel Naranjo Salazar has been named Secretary General of CLAR.  This is a service that the Latin American Church requests of Father Gabriel and the Congregation of the Mission in Colombia. We congratulate Father Gabriel and we promise to accompany him with our prayers and we also offer him our support as he undertakes this service which has been entrusted to him.  He will begin this service on Saturday, August 1
Gabriel Naranjo Salazar, a Vincentian priest, was born in Colombia in 1950. In addition to his priestly studies he specialized in biblical theology at the Pontifical University Javeriana of Bogotá and in Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical Biblical Institutein Rome, the École Biblique and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. For years now he has been involved in the project of intercultural exegesis (Evangelium et Cultura) and in the Catholic Biblical Federation, of which he was zonal coordinator for the Bolivarian countries of Latin America. He has attended the last three CBF Plenary Assemblies. He has worked in formation in his province and as professor of exegesis in the Vincentian theologate and in other institutions such as the InstitutoTeológico de Pastoral of CELAM. He was provincial superior of his community in Colombia and president of the Conferencia Latinoamericana de Provincias Vicentinas (CLAPVI). He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the CBF,and is responsible ad interim for the subregional coordination for Latin America and the Carribean
