On Sunday, September 13th, our confrere and brother, John Freund CM gathered together his family and friends and celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination. In light of that significant event in his life, we, at cmglobal.org and famvin.org, want to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to John for his many years of service in the area of communication.
John’s concern about communication is not something new. Since the time of his ordination in the year 1965 John has been involved in various ministries that challenged him to hone his skills as a communicator. He was involved in seminary formation as a professor of theology. He also spent many years at Saint John’s University where he constantly explored new ways to communicate the subject matter of his courses to countless numbers of students. In addition to his ministry as a teacher he was also a marriage counselor which demanded preciseness with regard to communication. Finally, long before most of us ever thought of obtaining a personal computer, John was at work exploring the advantages and the possibilities of this new technology while at the same time discovering new ways to join the members of the Vincentian Family together in a network of communication.
It is because of his efforts, the efforts of his team, and the support of the last two superiors general that we are able to enjoy and utilize the numerous resources that are available and that are constantly being updated on famvin.org. He has constantly informed us about significant events and happenings within the Vincentian Family and during this year of collaboration we can appreciate and value more than ever before all the effort that has made these websites so valuable and so relevant.
Therefore, we say thank you, John and may God continue to bless you as you continue to challenge us in the area of technology and communication.
