CONGREGATION OF THE MISSION

Synthesis of the consultation of young missionaries and those in formation

 

Four months before the beginning of the XLIII General Assembly, during the month of February 2022 and in the context of synodal reflection, the Preparatory Commission consulted the younger missionaries and those in formation.

Some two hundred persons responded to the question: What are your dreams for the Congregation of the Mission during this time of its fifth centenary?

The primary responses of the younger members of the Congregation can be classified as follows:

  • Prioritize work with the poor: respond concretely to the poor of our era, go out to the Less administrative work and greater focus on the poor, the homeless and the infirm. We want a prophetic Congregation that makes the cries of the poor and the struggles of the poor its own.
  • Better the formation in seminaries and on-going formation: opt for a formation that is more in line with the needs of the church, that respects the various stages of formation, and that specializes the missionaries in distinct competencies so that they can better serve the The human dimension needs to be emphasized in a better pedagogical manner.
  • Revitalize the Vincentian identity: return to the Vincentian roots so that each missionary is content, convinced and convincing with regard to their identity in the midst of today’s Recover symbols and expressions that identify us.
  • Better community life and fraternity: avoid divisions and hateful Give witness to community and unity “like the family in Nazareth”. Promote cooperation and unity in the midst of our diversity.
  • Increase vocations and implement a vocational culture: may the CM increase in number and in the quality of missionaries (priests and brothers) throughout the Better our vocational promotion and make a commitment to the creation of a vocational culture.
