To all my brothers and sister in the Vincentian Family,
I want to say a Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year in 2009 from all of us here at the Curia.
Recently I made a trip to Costa Rica.  In one of the houses of the Daughters of Charity they had a bulletin board that said “Here we have a place for them.”  They have a place for Jesus in their hearts,  they have a place for the poor in their home. I pray that that be the case for all of us in the Vincentian Family, that the poor will always find a place with us and that we find our place with them  and in the Lord Jesus.
After Costa Rica, I passed on the Panama, and every year the Caritas of Panama has a special theme for Christmas. This year the theme is “Let there be Christmas without violence.”  That is what we hope for in the world in which we live, so filled with violence.
And so my brothers and sisters, I pray, we pray, that all of us might live in His peace.  And I give this following blessing:
When he came to us as our brother,  the Son of God scattered the darkness of this world, and filled this holy day with his glory.  May the God of Infinite Goodness scatter the darkness of sin and brighten your hearts with holiness.
God sent his angels to shepherds to herald the great joy of our Savior’s birth. May He fill you with joy and make you heralds of the good news.
When the Word was made flesh, earth was joined to heaven.  MayHhe give you His peace and good will and fellowship with all the heavenly hosts.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
