52. Vincentian Family
Vincentian Translation Project. The Vincentian Translation Project Team announces the publication of the second volume of Conferences to the Daughters of Charity (Volume 10 of St. Vincent de Paul: Correspondence, Conferences and Documents). It is easy to see how the Documents show the fundamental structure of the work of the CM and the DCs, but the Conferences continue the development of the spirit of service: the love of God, Jesus Christ is the model of charity, zeal for the good of the neighbor, confidence in Divine Providence in all things, etc. – are some of the topics which will benefit all the members of the Vincentian Family. The book can be requested at: Vincentian Translation Project; St. Joseph’s Provincial House; 333 South Seton Avenue; Emmitsburg, Maryland 21727-2997; USA. Bicentenary of the birth of St. Catherine Labouré. The Vincentian Family shares the joy of the bicentenary of the birth of St. Catherine Labouré. She was born in Fain-les-Moutiers (Côte-d’Or, France) on 2 May 1806. She entered the novitiate of the Daughters of Charity at the Motherhouse in Paris on 21 April 1830. She was the object of celestial signs: the apparitions of the heart of St. Vincent and those of the Immaculate Virgin Mary on the night of 18-19 July and 27 November 1830. She received a mission. The Miraculous Medal continues to be an instrument of innumerable graces. She lived in silence, a life of humility, hard work and rich in merits. She died on 31 December 1870. She was beatified on 28 May 1933 by Pius XI and canonized on 27 July 1947 by Pius XII. She is known as “the saint of silence.” This is a feast for all the Vincentian Family, especially the Daughters of Charity and, in a particular way, for the Vincentian Marian Youth and the Association of the Miraculous Medal.
