The February 2016 edition of Perboyre Sparks of the Province of China is available online. The edition feature news of the Beunen Foundation as well as the relocation of the Provincial Offices.
Beunen Foundation formally moved to its new office at the 4th Floor of newly-constructed Provincial Residence Building in Lanya (in Taipei City) with a simple blessing ceremony last January 22, 2016. Attended by its own staff, the simple ceremony ushers a new era for the foundation as it helps in professionalizing and developing the social services of Vincentians in Taiwan and China. Beunen Foundation found its former office too small for its growing organization. Thanks to CM Chinese Province who offered the whole 4th floor for its need of bigger space. Its former office was temporarily left empty for future use of the Congregation.
The Provincial Visitor, Fr. Bintoro and Fr. Ferdinand Labitag transferred their residence at No. 202 DeXing East Road, Shilin District, Taipei (better known as Lanya) during the Chinese New Year holiday. Their residence which features a reception-dining room at 5th floor, priest’s rooms at 6th floor and visitors’ rooms at 7th floor, offers a new place foraccommodating confreres and visitors. Although not as convenient as Shilin Residence in terms of transportation, yet it offers a quieter place where one can enjoy the upscale neighborhood of Tianmu
After several stalled meetings with Bishop Philip Huang of Hualien Diocese to discuss the mission in Taidong, Fr. Bintoro ultimately met him last January 14, 2016 at his residence in Hualien City. The two discussed on how to strengthen the ministries of CM in the diocese and how the social services of Beunen Foundation be developed in the area. The bishop welcomes the presence of Vincentian missionaries in his diocese and even offered suggestions on how to strengthen it.
