Mission: Create an art from that inspires a direct service to the poor. The goal of the Finding Vince 400 Film Festival is to bring together a community of artists who have inspiring ideas on how to change our perspective on poverty. Ask yourself, what are ways you can:

● Help the poor.
● Have your community help the poor.
● Have our world help the poor.

It will be the instructors responsibility to:

● Empower children to explore creative solutions for a global issue.
● Explain the realities of worldwide poverty alongside solutions that have been implied,

solutions that have been successful or have failed.

● Express the importance of caring about poverty and its impact on the world.

What to research for project:

● What is Vincentian Family Charism?
● What is the meaning of poverty and are there types of poverty?
● Has your solution come to light by another person/group/community?
● How can we make the solutions implied by our communities, countries, and/or world better?
● Why should we come together to fix something like poverty?
● What inspires you to help the poor?
● How can you share a story based on the community you live in

(Note: Lessons explained below are not required to be taught in a three day (or more) structure. Teachers/Mentors should go through lessons as they see fit.)

Lesson 1: Preparing for your art piece

● Day one: Information and discussion on poverty. Homework: How can art help poverty?
● Day two: List three solutions to end global poverty and/or how to help. (Note: for brainstorming purposes only–think out of the box.)

● Day three: Select the purpose that inspires your art project. ( Remember to use your first day assigned homework to help narrow something that speaks from your heart. The art of being inspired lies with the student feeling passion and drive within themselves.

Lesson 2: Creating your art piece

● Your art piece comes with a story: we recommend that you create something that is at the center of your solution. Whether it is:

○ The symbol or logo of your solution
○ The motivation or inspiration of your solution
○ The emotional connection you have with poverty
○ The image of what could be if solutions are applied
○ Anything you feel provides justice to creating something with FV’s mission in mind.

● You can create: a painting, a drawing, a sketch, a sculpture, a picture, a collage, a video, a song, the options are limitless .
● We recommend all artists submit a 1 page brief explanation of their piece, why it is impactful to you/why it should be impactful to others, and most importantly, share your solution(s) with us!
