A team from the historic program, Pueblo de Dios, on Channel 2 of Spanish Television, traveled to Salamanca last April to report on the trajectory and operation of the Day Center, “Ranquines,” for people with mental health problems.
This social work, inaugurated on 27 September (Feast of Saint Vincent de Paul) 2017, is based at the Vincentian Missionaries Residence in Santa Marta de Tormes (Salamanca). The following institutions are involved in it: Diocese of Salamanca, Catholic Charities of Salamanca, Canonical Province of Saint Vincent de Paul-Spain of the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentian Missionaries), Religious Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation of the Northern Spain Province, Miracle of Saint Joseph Parish, Daughters of Jesus, and Religious of the Sacred Hearts.
TVE professionals conducted interviews with Policarpo Díaz, Vicar of Pastoral Works in the Diocese of Salamanca; Carmen Calzada, Director of Diocesan Catholic Charities of Salamanca; Francisco Berbegal, CM, Coordinator of Ranquines; and several volunteers and participants of the Center, who offered testimony of their lives.
All this work was released on Sunday, 22 September 2019, at 11:30 am on Channel 2 of Spanish Television, on the Pueblo de Dios program, and then on RTVE a la carte.
