To all the members of the Congregation of the Mission
Dear confreres,
May the grace and peace of Jesus be always with us!
Today, at 7:00 in the morning in the Motherhouse of the Daughters of Charity in Paris, France, the Superioress General, Sister Kathleen Appler, departed to the House of the Father. At this moment of great suffering and pain, we join all the Daughters of Charity to express our closeness, support, and union in prayer.
I ask every local community in all our Provinces, Vice-Provinces, Regions, and International Missions to celebrate a Eucharist for the soul of Sister Kathleen Appler, all the Daughters of Charity, her family members, and all those who at this moment feel her loss in a special way. I would also like to ask each local community, during the common prayer of the breviary or the Eucharist during this time of Lent, to include the same intentions during the prayers of the faithful.
As members of the Little Company, we experienced throughout the service of Sister Kathleen as Superioress General of the Daughters of Charity her wonderful support, closeness, friendship, and an extraordinary example of simplicity, humility, and charity.
As we pray for Sister Kathleen, we also ask her to intercede in heaven for all the members of our Congregation, the Daughters of Charity, the other members of the Vincentian Family, and the Poor.
Your brother in Saint Vincent,
Tomaž Mavrič, CM
Superior General
