St. Vincent’s Seminary in Philippines responds

The Province of the Philippines is active during their isolation phase (Community Quarantine) of the response to the Corona Virus. Here we have a picture of the preparation that goes on daily as the St. Vincent Seminary Complex of four communities prepares some 2,300 food bags. Four or five confreres then bring the bags to distribution points. They also serve 200 cooked meals twice a week. All done while maintaining the discipline of precautions necessary at this time of the spread of the virus. The people served are day laborers, street people, transport people and informal settlers around the area and in our parish in Payatas. These are very challenged by this time of isolation. This is part of a larger organization called Vincent Helps.

The Vincent Helps was launched days after the Taal volcano eruption last January to unify the relief efforts for the affected communities in Cavite and Batangas of different Vincentian communities. This initiative included a donation drive from the Vincentian Family, parishioners, benefactors, mission partners and even to generous people outside the country. It became successful through the collaborative effort of the confreres, the Daughters of Charity, seminarians and lay mission partners who devoted their time and resources. All of the above are active now responding to the isolation mandated to respond to the Corona Virus.
