With this phrase as a backdrop and in accordance with all the health regulations in this post-pandemic era, the celebration of another anniversary of the Community in Dialogue took place on 21 June. For the same reason, the families of young people from the program were not present at the event, but the Superior General, Father Tomaž Mavrič, C.M., Mgr. Lorenzo Loppa, Bishop of the Diocese of Anagni-Alatri, Father Erminio Antonello, C.M., Visitor of the Province of Italy, Imam Salameh Ashour, President of the Palestinian Community in Rome and Lazio, Mr. Daniele Natalia, Mayor of Anagni and some confreres from the General Curia attended the celebration.
It began with a Eucharist presided over by Father Tomaž Mavrič, C.M., who referred to the Word of God and how the work has already spread into many countries such as Colombia, Peru, Ukraine, Argentina and possibly Slovakia or the Czech Republic. It is a work that seeks to help young people, to seek the deep meaning of their lives.
After the Mass, we went to the table where we shared with all the community a rich lunch full of signs prepared by the young people themselves, a great bread shaped like a heart, which was shared by all. The lunch was finished with a cake with the phrase in it: “To be yourself with the joy of the community”. Referring to this phrase, Father Matteo Tagliaferri, C.M., director of the work, explained that “the Community helps us so each person can bring out the best of himself, because we know that alone we cannot do it, if we help each other, it is beautiful to be together and we are happy that everyone is always transformed into himself, but alone he does not succeed”. This is the basis of society, of relations between everyone, races and above all, religions.
In the afternoon, there were events prepared by the young people of the Program, showing the joy of being on the same path, and always seeking to be themselves in the midst of difficulties. One of the posters displayed in the hall, which may be inspiring to all our readers in this time of pandemic, read: “There are viruses that kill the body, others kill the mind and the heart. Let’s at least save the mind and heart.
