Objective:
To encourage the members of our Catholic Church to compose songs that motivate our evangelizing mission through our charism and to continue the legacy of our holy Founders.
Participants:
All authors and composers, who meeting the following requirements, may participate:
• Belong to one of the branches of the Vincentian Family or are part of a Catholic group that wants to know more about our spirituality and charism.
• Present a musical composition on video no later than Sunday, October 18, 2020 using wetransfer.com or the same registration page.
• The three best songs will be published on Saturday, October 31, 2020, thus utilizing the framework of the month of Missions.
• In the case of an individuals under the age of 18, in addition to the information requested on the registration form, authorization to participate in the contest signed by the parents or representative of the authors of the song must be attached via email.
• Musical compositions must have as their theme the mission or must be related to one of the saints of the Vincentian Family or to some aspect of our charism.
Development:
• All the songs (both the lyrics and the music) must be original and unpublished (composed for the occasion). Should have a duration of at least 2 ½ minutes and not longer than 4 minutes.
• The musical style is free (Pop, Rock, Jazz, Indigenous rhythms, etc.). We are not looking for liturgical or classical music but rather music that utilizes current styles and that are directed toward a young audience.
• The text of the song should be primarily Spanish, but some verse can utilize another language.
Jury and Awards
*** The jury will assess the quality of the lyrics, the music or melody and the voice or voices of the song presented.
*** The authors of the songs give the Vincentian Family of Colombia the use, free of copyright, of the works in order to compose a musical repertoire of the best songs. The organizers of the contest reserve the right to modify some aspects of the selected song (the text, melody or musical arrangement).
*** The contest will present awards to the three best compositions:
—the two best songs: musical production
—the third best song: a guitar and complete orchestration
—the ten best songs: a certificate signed by Father Diego Luis Vázquez Marín CM Visitor of the Province of Colombia of the Congregation of the Mission
*** Any aspect that might arise and that is not reflected in the contest rules will be resolved by the organizers of the contest.
