In 2020, the Italian Episcopal Conference published the third edition of the Roman Missal. For this reason, it became necessary to adapt our liturgical books to the new Missal by including the various texts concerning the new blessed individuals.
In 2021, I was appointed by the Visitor, Fr. Erminio Antonello C.M., as I am a liturgist, to draft the volume of the Liturgy of the Hours for the Congregation of the Mission and the Company of the Daughters of Charity. In 2022, I was also tasked with preparing the Vincentian Missal and the Vincentian Lectionary, again for the Congregation of the Mission and the Company of the Daughters of Charity.
The Liturgy of the Hours
When composing the book of the Liturgy of the Hours, I took into account the elderly (C.M. and F.d.C.), especially those who might face difficulties using a liturgical book. For this reason, I included the four-week psalter within the volume so that there would be no need to switch to the Roman breviary.
The book of the Liturgy of the Hours begins with the Proper of Saints:
This follows the principles and norms for the Liturgy of the Hours.
Then follows a brief Order for some common parts of the Liturgy of the Hours.
Psalter distributed over four weeks.
Appendix:
Proper hymns in Latin
Blessing and Imposition of the Miraculous Medal.
Vincentian Missal
The Vincentian Missal, which follows the General Instruction of the Roman Missal, opens with the calendar of our saints and blessed, followed by the Proper of Saints.
In the memorials, the Preface according to the Liturgical Time has been added.
Then follows the Rite of the Mass with the people:
The inserted Eucharistic prayers are as follows:
Eucharistic Prayer I or Roman Canon.
Eucharistic Prayer II
Eucharistic Prayer III
Eucharistic Prayer IV
Eucharistic Prayer V/IV. Jesus went about doing good.
Formularies for the Universal Prayer
Appendix: Blessing and Imposition of the Miraculous Medal.
Vincentian Lectionary
The Vincentian Lectionary opens with: Readings in the Masses of the B.V. Mary Immaculate of the Miraculous Medal. This consists of a series of readings with corresponding psalms taken from the Old and New Testaments: readings and Gospel passages.
It continues with the collection of readings in the Masses of Saint Vincent de Paul. The method is the same as before, but three thematic schemes are provided:
The Mission;
Charity;
Priesthood;
Each scheme is divided into Outside of Easter Time and During Easter Time.
The following are the readings in the Masses of Saint Louise de Marillac. The scheme is identical to that of the readings in the Masses of Saint Vincent de Paul.
Finally, there are the readings taken from the Common of Saints, specifically: from the Common of Martyrs; of Pastors and of Virgins.
The lectionary concludes with the formularies of the Universal Prayer.
