We may not have a song like “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. But we do have a heritage of service that we celebrate with the feast spread over the last days of November and the beginning of December.
Today, just as four hundred years ago, the infinitely inventive commitment that we ought to embrace is one that is expressed in specific concrete action and that reveals the reality of the Kingdom of God as the sole focus in our life and our ministry.
The 60 new martyrs are composed of 40 members of the Congregation of the Mission (24 priests and 16 brothers), 2 Daughters of Charity, 13 lay members of Vincentian Associations and 5 priests from the Diocese of Murcia who served as spiritual advisors to those groups.
Sixty members of the Vincentian Family who were martyred during the Spanish Civil War will be beatified at a Mass in Madrid, November 11.
