Eligibility for Service

Who can apply for VSO service or for a VSF micro-project grant?

Only provinces, vice-provinces, and missions of the Congregation of the Mission that have been determined to be eligible for VSO service by the Superior General and the General Council can apply for VSO assistance for a project or for a VSF micro-project grant.  A list of the provinces, vice-provinces and missions eligible for VSO service as determined by the Superior General and the General Council, can be reviewed below.

What projects are eligible for VSO service?

Projects that satisfy the following criteria approved by the Superior General and the General Council will be accepted for VSO service:

  1. The visitor, vice-visitor, or mission superior of an international mission of the General Curia approves and sends the VSO Project Application Form to the VSO Administrator.
  2. The VSO Project Application Form is properly filled out.
  3. The province, vice-province, or mission submitting the project is eligible for VSO service, as determined by the Superior General and the General Council.
  4. The project is a work of the Congregation of the Mission and benefits the needs of the confreres of the province, vice-province, or mission, or the people they serve.
  5. There is a reasonable chance of securing grant funds for the project.
  6. The VSO has the resources to work on the project.

What micro-projects are eligible for funding from the VSF?

Micro-projects that satisfy the following criteria approved by the Superior General and the General Council will be funded from the VSF:

  1. The visitor, vice-visitor, or mission superior of an international mission of the General Curia approves and sends the VSF Micro-Project Grant Application Form to the VSO Administrator.
  2. The VSF Micro-Project Grant Application Form is properly filled out.
  3. The province, vice-province, or mission submitting the VSF Micro-Project Grant Application Form is eligible for VSO service, as determined by the Superior General or the General Council.
  4. The micro-project is a work of the Congregation of the Mission and benefits the needs of the confreres of the province, vice-province, or mission, or the people they serve.
  5. The micro-project grant is for $5,000 USD or less.
  6. The VSF has the financial resources to award the micro-project grant.
  7. A province, vice-province, or mission can only receive one (1) VSF micro-project grant per funding year (May to April).
