St. Vincent looked for light to help resolve the daily hardships facing the poor. In this quote, he witnessed to the power of prayer as a means of shining the light of God’s grace upon everyday problems. For him, prayer introduced light and energy, and like the sun sharped his vision and generated growth in the most surprising ways.
